Jogging in Venice

29 March, 2007

For many reasons, Venice is the perfect place for jogging (do you remember Julia Roberts in “Everyone Says I Love You”?). No cars, no traffic lights, no smog, no slope, just some bridges with few steps.
The best time is the early morning, when there are no one in the streets. If you like the open space there are many routes:
The Fondamenta delle Zattere, 1400 meters long, with 5 bridges, in front of the Giudecca Island.
The Riva dei Sette Martiri between  the Arsenale and San Marco, with the Biennale Gardens and Sant Elena Park.
The Fondamente Nuove, a back straight 900 meters long, with 4 bidges, on the north side of Venice, ideal in Summer.
Or just the little narrow streets and bridges inside the town as Julia and Woody :-).
