The fourth bridge
29 August, 2007
At last the huge structure of the fourt bridge on the Grand Canal dominates between the Train Station and Piazzale Roma.
And at last Venetians have accepted it, in fact they are now talking about how to call it. The local newspaper “Il Gazzettino” has started a poll, by now the name ranking is: “Ponte Santa Lucia” with 274 marks, followed by “Ponte Santa Chiara” 165 marks, “Ponte Calatrava” 63 marks, and more easy “Ponte Novo” (new bridge) with 62 marks.
It’s expected that the inauguration will be in December, maybe the 8th (Madonna Immacolata feast) or the 13th (Santa Lucia Day).
