Venice cats

14 March, 2008

Today in Venice you hardly meet alley cats. But it’s still possible to take a nice picture to one of the many cats that live comfortable inside the apartments and sometimes hag around.

My three-year old son’s abiding memory of Venice may well be the very pleasant cat – quite similar to the one in your photo – who jumped onto our table at a cafe just in front of the chiesa di San Barnaba, sat staring at us for a little while, and then politely sipped some hot chocolate out of my son’s saucer, before departing to conduct what looked like a regular inspection of the campo, its shops and cafes. Since our own cats do not like hot chocolate, my son believes that cats who enjoy chocolate are uniquely Venetian.

Your site is wonderful, by the way – except that it makes me wish I was in Venice!

  2. Thank you very much!
I have read the post on Venice on your blog and found it very impressive.
