Venice is NOT sinking

5 December, 2008

I have read so many things in the last few days that I need to write this.
Venice is not flooded, the journalists that say: “don’t go to Venice”, don’t know what they are speaking about.

The acqua alta is caused by the tide,  it lasts a few hours and then goes away as the tide goes out.

Monday the water was up high and for 4 hrs there was serious inconvenience: the afternoon of the flooding many places were closed as they were drying out and also the electric blew in some areas.

But that’s all!  Now the town is running as usual, there are no reasons to cancel a trip.

It’s really a pity that Venice public administrations didn”t understand the need to reassure people on the net about the fact that the water was on the streets just a couple of hours.

  1. Howard Says:

Don’t worry, the people who understand (and love) Venice know that the high water is only temporary.

I would think only the daily tourists are the clueless ones, who might think this could last longer and cancel their plans to visit. But that’s not really a bad thing…all in all.

I love what you are doing! Keep up the good work!
    Pace!
