When I was young the captains of vaporetti or motoscafi were always manly men, now it’s quite common to see a blond lady at the helm.
And only now I realize how wrong it was.

Venice from beyond the bridge

When I was in Venice in March I saw a woman with short dark hair as captain of the No. 2 . I have seen women as workers on the vaporetti over the last few years but this was the first captain I had seen.
It’s about time.
